Self lubricating dry elements DJA Mond

These types of sliding elements do not require any lubrication and are suitable for use with heavy loads and low speeds.

They consist of a solid body (made of copper alloy, steel or cast iron) with solid lubricant inserts based on Ptfe and/or graphite. Graphite creates a thin film during operation that covers both surfaces and avoids direct contact between metals.

These bushings are normally available in cylindrical format, flange, ribbons and rails but without particular problems we can produce them to customer's design.

The main advantages that these products offer are:

  • high static and dynamic load capacity;
  • excellent performance under high load with intermittent movements;
  • self-lubricating and maintenance-free;
  • still tolerates any conventional lubricant well;
  • low friction coefficient without stick-slip effect;
  • not sensitive to dirt, resists chemicals and corrosion;
  • high dimensional stability in the presence of water, particularly suitable for use in the marine environment;
  • good resistance to impact stress;
  • limited load sensitivity on the edges, can be used in the misalignments;
  • absorbs vibrations well;
  • is suitable for use at medium high temperatures;
  • electricity conductor, does not show electrostatic phenomenon;
  • high thermal conductivity.

In the case of the bushing, assembly should be done by interference fit using a mandrel with a shoulder and ground surface or, alternatively, by cooling the part to very low temperatures.
The self-lubricating bushing with graphite inserts has the following construction tolerances:

  • external Ø m6 (r6 flanges)
  • Inner Ø F7 (E7 flanges)
  • length -0.1/-0.3
  • flange Ø +0.2/-0.2
  • flange thickness 0/-0.1

The housing must have an H7 tolerance, while the shaft may have tolerances of the type:

  • “d8” for use with high loads;
  • “e7” for use with light loads;
  • “f7” for precision coupling.

The hardness of the shaft must be between 180 HB and 250 HB and in any case higher than that of the sliding element, while the roughness must be between 0.2 and 0.8 μm.

Version “BG..”

They consist of an alloy based on solid bronze with a special solid lubricant inserted. The bronze base withstands heavy loads and the solid lubricant provides self-lubrication.

The bushing shows excellent features even without pre-lubrication, under extremely high/low temperature conditions but at low speeds.
This material lends itself to maintenance-free bushing solutions, particularly for heavy loads, and intermittent oscillating motion.

Series “BG…A”

It is a multi-purpose product base, suitable for many circumstances including high and low loads, high and low temperatures, with oil or dry lubrication, or possibly in the water.
With its structure made of high-strength brass, twice the hardness of normal bushings and a further optimized wear resistance grade, it can be used for the metallurgical and automatic industries and in mining machinery.
It also lends itself in machines for plastic injections, in high voltage circuit breakers, pulleys, in moulds, hydraulic turbines in the shipping industry (such as sliding parts for ships launch), and in environments where there are corrosive agents or other chemical substances.

Series “BG…B”

The BG..B series products are mainly adopted for low-load and high-temperature situations, for example, light-industrial equipment and machinery, or in the vicinity of fire machining.

Series “CG…”

This series is proposed as an alternative in situations of non-heavy loads and thus the possibility of using products at a lower cost. They can therefore meet the demand for applications such as: mold guides, conveyor belts, and so on.

Series “AG”

The products in this series are a special type of bushing with high mechanical strength made of 100Cr6 steel.
This type of steel is used in this bushing because it has high resistance to adhesive wear but also to abrasive wear. This material exhibits high fatigue resistance due to the homogeneity of the structure.
Due to their excellent overall capabilities, they are especially suitable for supporting parts on heavily loaded machines, for example: crane supports, hoist supports, catenaries, etc.
Given their steel structure, they are not suitable for activities in water, acid or alkaline conditions.
